Comparison
VPSoto vs DigitalOcean — pick the one that fits your stack
DigitalOcean built the developer tooling everyone else copies. VPSoto is cheaper, supports crypto checkout, and ships in 19 cities (DO has 14). Pick what your team needs more.
The honest take
DigitalOcean genuinely changed cloud hosting. They invented the term 'Droplet' and built the developer tooling (App Platform, Spaces, Managed Kubernetes, doctl CLI) that AWS reluctantly copied a decade later. If your stack lives inside their ecosystem, switching costs are real.
What DigitalOcean isn't great at: pricing for non-US/EU customers (no PKR/SAR billing, no crypto), regional coverage outside the major hubs, and competitive pricing at the entry tier — their $4/mo Basic Droplet has been the same for 5+ years while NVMe got 3× cheaper.
DigitalOcean wins at
- Managed services: App Platform, Managed Postgres, Managed Redis, Managed Kafka, Spaces (S3-compatible) — we don't ship any of these.
- Developer tooling: doctl CLI, Terraform provider, Ansible modules — battle-tested integrations.
- Marketplace: 1-click WordPress, GitLab, MongoDB, Magento droplets ready in minutes.
- Documentation: Their tutorials are the gold standard for self-hosted Linux ops.
- Free credit: $200 / 60-day signup credit for new accounts.
VPSoto wins at
- Price at the entry tier: from $3.80/mo for a real NVMe VPS vs DO's $4/mo Basic.
- Geographic coverage: 19 cities including Dubai, Bahrain, Karachi, Lagos, Almaty, Tirana — DO covers 14 with no MENA / South Asia / Africa presence.
- Crypto checkout: Bitcoin, USDT, ETH via NowPayments — DO is card-only.
- Currency support: USD, GBP, EUR, SAR, PKR — billed in your currency.
- No bandwidth overage charges in most regions: DO charges $0.01/GB over included transfer; we don't bill overage on most plans.

Pick VPSoto if you're
Independent developers, agencies, and teams in MENA / South Asia / Africa who need a real Linux box close to their users at a price that doesn't punish their currency.
Pick DigitalOceanif you're
Teams already deep in the DigitalOcean ecosystem (Spaces, Managed DBs, App Platform), or who need 1-click WordPress/Postgres/Redis without learning Linux ops.
FAQ
- Is VPSoto a DigitalOcean reseller?
- No. We work directly with 19 different infrastructure providers and pass through the savings — DO operates their own datacenters in 14 regions and bills retail.
- Can I migrate my droplet to VPSoto?
- Yes — snapshot your droplet, download the image (DO supports this), upload to your new VPSoto VPS as the boot disk, or rebuild from scratch using your existing config-management (Ansible, Terraform). Full migration usually takes 1–2 hours.
- Why don't you have managed Postgres / Redis / Kafka?
- Honestly: we're a smaller team and managed-DB requires 24/7 operational coverage to be worth charging for. For now we recommend Neon, Supabase, or Upstash for managed services — they all run great alongside a VPSoto VPS.
- Is your support as good as DO's tutorials?
- Their tutorials are unmatched — we send customers there often. For ticket support, our staff replies within an hour during business hours; DO has a similar SLA on paid support tiers.
